You might be surprised by the affordable cost!  Representatives from Puget Sound Energy and Snohomish County PUD will be available to answer questions about their specific Carbon Offset programs. \nSpeaker Bio:\nStan Gent PE\, has extensive experience working with energy systems across North America. Prior to his retirement in 2016\, he was President and CEO of Enwave Steam (formerly Seattle Steam Company). He has been actively involved in many professional boards including founding member of the Washington Business Alliance (formerly Washington Clean Tech Alliance)\, Seattle Mayor’s Green Building Task Force\, the Seattle Chamber of Commerce\, the Seattle Rotary Sustainability Committee\, and Department of Mechanical Engineering Advisory Board for the UW’s College of Engineering. He currently serves on Snohomish County’s Climate Action Advisory Committee and is an active member of Interfaith Climate Action. In 2014 Stan was recognized by the International District Energy Association for lifelong career commitment to energy efficiency and professional contributions to advancing the global district energy industry. He holds a Mechanical Engineering degree from Queens University Belfast.

DESCRIPTION:MELBOURNE • BREVARD COUNTY\, FLORIDA – The Cities of Melbourne\, Palm Bay and Satellite Beach\, along with the Brevard County Natural Resources Management Department\, Marine Resources Council\, the Indian River Lagoon National Estuary Program and Anglers for Conservation will host “Indian River Lagoon Day\,” on Saturday\, November 14 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Front Street Park\, 2210 Front Street\, Melbourne.  \nThis fun-filled day focused on celebrating the Indian River Lagoon is free to the public. \nEnvironmental exhibitors will be on hand to showcase a variety of available volunteer opportunities in restoration activities\, educational efforts and citizen-science projects. \nFree kayaking will be provided by Adventure Kayak of Cocoa Beach and food trucks\, arts and craft vendors and activities for children will also be available. \nA Hook Kids on Fishing clinic will take place from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Kids participating in the clinic will each receive a free fishing rod and gear. Advanced registration is required. \nSign up online at www.anglersforconservation.org \nFor gardeners\, rain barrel workshops will be held from 11 a.m. until 12 noon and participants will be able to construct and take home a free rain barrel. Only 20 are available on a first-come\, first-served basis. Registration will be conducted at the festival that morning. \nMasks are recommended to be worn by all participants. Hand sanitizing stations will be provided.

DESCRIPTION:The International Coastal Cleanup began more than 30 years ago when communities rallied together with the common goal of collecting and documenting the trash littering their coastline. The Marine Resources Council in collaboration with Keep Brevard Beautiful\, and the Ocean Conservancy\, invites you to join in for this year’s cleanup. \nPlease Register to RSVP at https://coastalcleanup2020.eventbrite.com/?aff=cal or call 321-725-7775.
