DESCRIPTION:Join the MRC for a day of Lagoon learning and giving in celebration of Earth Day!  The day will be filled with fun educational talks on current Lagoon restoration efforts and projects\, as well as hands on activities that allow you to give back to the Lagoon.  All topped off with a tasty lunch catered by Coastal Crab Co. and live Caribbean music throughout! \nThis event is free and open to anyone!  \nThe days lineup consists of:  \n9a.m-10:45a.m: Shoreline Cleanup\nIt can’t be Earth Day without a good old trash cleanup\, right?? \n10a.m: Rain Barrel Workshop\nHead over to the Rain Barrel Station to learn how to create your very own Rain Barrel that can help reduce up to 50\,000 gallons of stormwater from entering the Lagoon!  This workshop is free to audit\, but there is a $55 dollar fee to construct and take home a barrel.  \n11a.m: Presentation – Dr. John Windsor\nDr. Windsor will be kicking off their expert lineup with a presentation on the Citizen Oversight Committee for the Save our Lagoon Project Plan.  \n11:45a.m: Presentation – Bill Cox\nBill will be filling us in on local U.S Coast Guard initiatives and how they impact research of Right Whale populations.  \n12:15p.m: Lunch break… cue the shrimps! The first 50 kids registered may receive a free rod and reel. SUMMARY:CCA Treasure Coast Banquet
DESCRIPTION:The CCA Treasure Coast Banquet will be held on Thursday\, April 19th\, 2018 at The Intergenerational Recreation Center.   \nThis event will include Vegas style games\, an exciting live and silent auction\, as well as an extensive raffle that will include: local\, out-of-state\, and exotic fishing/hunting trips\, fish and wildlife artwork\, sculptures\, jewelry\, Maverick Skiff\, Contender Offshore Boat\, Yamaha outboards\, fishing tackle\, and much more. The fun begins at 6:00 p.m. with a open bar\, silent auction\, and raffle. Dinner will be served at 7:30 p.m. The live auction will begin after dinner.  \nIndividual tickets are $110 per person and include: dinner\, open bar and CCA membership. Couples tickets are $200 and include: (2) dinners\, (2)  open bar\, a regular CCA membership and an associate membership. Corporate sponsorships for 10 people begin at $1\,300.00 and include (10) dinners\, (10) open bar\, and (10) CCA annual memberships.

The talk will be illustrated with slides and video taken during research cruises and disentanglement rescue missions.  \nMark Borrelli\, Ph.D.\,  Center for Coastal Studies Coastal Geologist Director\, will discuss the geological processes that occur along or near the coast\, from estuaries and lagoons to the inner continental shelf\, focusing on topics such as climate change\, sea level rise\, coastal sediment transport\, ocean waves and tidal currents\, shoreline change\, seafloor mapping\, as well as storm impacts to beach\, dune and shallow water ecosystems. \nThis is a fundraising event for the Center for Coastal Studies.

We’re looking for volunteers interested in helping protect the Naples Bay shoreline and restore oyster reef habitat by helping bag oysters for future deployment. Closed-toe shoes are required. The Hook Kids on Fishing program will take place at: \nCoquina Pit\nMerritt Island National Wildlife Refuge\nMerritt Island\, Fl.\nTo get to this area\, proceed past the visitor center going East toward the traffic light. At the light\, make a left and it will be the first road on your right. There is a small white maintenance sign that says “P.A.P.I” on it at the entrance. \nKids ages 6 to 16\, are welcome along with their parents. The first 80 kids registered may receive a free rod and reel.  Registration is required by contacting erica.adams2775@gmail.com or 321-861-2384\, alternate 321-861-1274. \nThese conservation-minded Hook Kids On Fishing programs teach casting\, fishing safety\, knot tying\, the tackle box\, catch and release tactics\, fishing habitat and conservation; and are taught by professional guides and knowledgeable anglers. DESCRIPTION:Looking for a fun way to give back to the Lagoon and get your hands dirty?  Come join the MRC Mangrove Team!   \nThis is a volunteer team that meets on the first Saturday of each month at 9:30am.  The team works to maintain and grow the thousands of mangroves housed at the MRC Greenhouse.  The team typically meets down at the MRC Greenhouse located in Vero Beach\, FL.  If you would like to caravan with MRC staff\, please meet at the Lagoon House (3275 Dixie Hwy. NE\, Palm Bay\, FL 32905) no later than 8:30am. \nPlease be aware that participation involves working in some standing water and lots of dirt. DESCRIPTION:Please join us at the Eau Gallie Causeway Boat Ramp to collect trash along the roadway. Trash Bash is a contest to collect the largest amount of litter\, the City chose this location because our beaches are so clean we lost by a landslide last year!
