Senior Vice President John Lambert will lead an interactive discussion of event attendees\, with the goal of establishing programs and processes to mobilize local unmanned systems resources (both aircraft and surface vehicles) to support MRC lagoon science and restoration efforts.

The talk will be illustrated with slides and video taken during research cruises and disentanglement rescue missions.  \nMark Borrelli\, Ph.D.\,  Center for Coastal Studies Coastal Geologist Director\, will discuss the geological processes that occur along or near the coast\, from estuaries and lagoons to the inner continental shelf\, focusing on topics such as climate change\, sea level rise\, coastal sediment transport\, ocean waves and tidal currents\, shoreline change\, seafloor mapping\, as well as storm impacts to beach\, dune and shallow water ecosystems. \nThis is a fundraising event for the Center for Coastal Studies.

DESCRIPTION:In partnership with Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge\, Anglers for Conservation (AFC) is coordinating AFC’s Hook Kids on Fishing program on Saturday\, April 14th from 9am-11am. The Hook Kids on Fishing program will take place at: \nCoquina Pit\nMerritt Island National Wildlife Refuge\nMerritt Island\, Fl.\nTo get to this area\, proceed past the visitor center going East toward the traffic light. At the light\, make a left and it will be the first road on your right. There is a small white maintenance sign that says “P.A.P.I” on it at the entrance. \nKids ages 6 to 16\, are welcome along with their parents. The first 80 kids registered may receive a free rod and reel.  Registration is required by contacting erica.adams2775@gmail.com or 321-861-2384\, alternate 321-861-1274. \nThese conservation-minded Hook Kids On Fishing programs teach casting\, fishing safety\, knot tying\, the tackle box\, catch and release tactics\, fishing habitat and conservation; and are taught by professional guides and knowledgeable anglers. DESCRIPTION:Looking for a fun way to give back to the Lagoon and get your hands dirty?  Come join the MRC Mangrove Team!   \nThis is a volunteer team that meets on the first Saturday of each month at 9:30am.  The team works to maintain and grow the thousands of mangroves housed at the MRC Greenhouse.  The team typically meets down at the MRC Greenhouse located in Vero Beach\, FL.  If you would like to caravan with MRC staff\, please meet at the Lagoon House (3275 Dixie Hwy. NE\, Palm Bay\, FL 32905) no later than 8:30am. \nPlease be aware that participation involves working in some standing water and lots of dirt. The Hook Kids on Fishing program will take place at: \nSatellite Beach Sports Park\n751 Jamaica Blvd.\nSatellite Beach\, Fl. 32937 \nKids ages 6 to 16\, are welcome along with their parents. The first 80 kids registered may receive a free rod and reel. DESCRIPTION:Joshua Breininger\, a Senior at West Shore Jr/Sr High has organized a cleanup in partnership with the Merritt Island Youth Leadership Council\, Brevard Zoo Teens\, and Keep Brevard Beautiful. He will host the cleanup at Spessard Holland Park in Melbourne Beach on Sunday\, March 25\, starting at 1pm. KBB will provide supplies. Please bring a re-usable water bottle and sunscreen. DESCRIPTION:It’s adoption day! The Nature Conservancy and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission join Swampgirl Adventures and the Osceola CISMA in helping exotic pet owners find new homes for their reptiles\, amphibians\, birds\, fish and exotic mammals. Surrendering is free of charge and free of questions. A licensed veterinarian examines each pet before adoption.
