SUMMARY:Brevard Zoo Restore Our Shores library program
DESCRIPTION:Palm Bay Public Library presents Brevard Zoo Restore Our Shores Program. All ages are welcome. \nBrevard Zoo Restore Our Shores will provide an activity for youth of all ages. \nA supervising adult is required to be present in the room at all times. Unless scheduled\, programs should be food free for the safety and consideration of children with allergies. \nBrevard Zoo Restore Our Shores dives deep into the Indian River Lagoon to discover the creatures that call it home. Kids get the opportunity to “build” the Indian River Lagoon ecosystem together using a felt board and felt animals. They will spend time discussing what lives below the water’s surface and how everything is connected. Afterward\, kids and adults help color a mural of all the animals learned about during the talk.

SUMMARY:The Struggle to Live: Why Florida IRL Manatees Starve with SCPA
DESCRIPTION:Dr. Wanda Jones\, a marine mammal biologist and conservationist\, has conducted research on manatee feeding preferences and compared the nutrient composition of lettuce\, water hyacinth\, and hydrilla. Dr. Jones states that the science is clear. Instead of spraying deadly herbicide poison into our water to kill hydrilla and water hyacinth\, she advocates mechanically harvesting these nutritionally superior plants to feed the manatees in an attempt to save them from starvation. Officials counter that would be too difficult. \nJoin us on Thursday June 2nd for this timely presentation as we think outside the box and explore another avenue to help save our beloved manatees. \nZoom: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84175950107\nID: 841 7595 0107 \nFace Book Live:\nhttps://www.facebook.com/SCPAFlorida/

SUMMARY:Indian River Lagoon Symposium - IRL Connectivity
DESCRIPTION:http://www.indianriverlagoon.org/Symposium.html\nThe Indian River Lagoon (IRL) Symposium is the result of a multi-institutional\, multi-agency effort to provide a forum for discussing Indian River Lagoon science and its application to management of the lagoon. The symposium is open to scientists\, decision makers\, students\, education and outreach professionals\, and the interested public. The intent is to facilitate better communication among these groups so that the gaps between research and its application can be narrowed.\n\n \nThe goals of the symposium are to:\n\n\n\nProvide a forum to disseminate current knowledge of the IRL and its management \nFoster collaborations and discussions among scientists\, students\, education and outreach professionals\, and    decision makers\nPromote participation of university students and new scientists \nProvide results and discussions that can be used to inform policy related to management of the IRL \nIncrease public awareness of the IRL and its ecological and economic importance\n\n\nThe theme for the 2022 symposium is IRL Connectivity. The concept of connectivity can refer to many aspects of the lagoon. Examples include: interactions of the IRL with its watershed or with other nearby coastal waters\, the dependence of fish production and population dynamics on dispersal and migration among multiple habitats\, and much more.
