DESCRIPTION:Looking for a fun way to give back to the Lagoon and get your hands dirty? Come join the MRC Mangrove Team! \nThis is a volunteer team that meets on the first Saturday of each month at 9:30am. The team works to maintain and grow the thousands of mangroves housed at the MRC Greenhouse. The team typically meets down at the MRC Greenhouse located in Vero Beach\, FL. If you would like to caravan with MRC staff\, please meet at the Lagoon House (3275 Dixie Hwy. NE\, Palm Bay\, FL 32905) no later than 8:30am. \nPlease be aware that participation involves working in some standing water and lots of dirt. Come dressed appropriately and in boots\, crocs\, or shoes that you don’t mind getting wet and dirty. \nPlease visit our website http://www.SaveTheIRL.org to fill our a Volunteer Application or email kate@mrcirl.org for more information! \nDirections for the Greenhouse:\nComing from 512 heading South\, you will turn left on 510 after Publix. Stay on 510 around the bend and turn left after the big pink wall onto 86th Ave. The nursery is located at the very end of 86th Ave. You will come to a fork with some mailboxes on the right where the road will turn from dirt to grass…just keep going alllll the way to the end. We will put out MRC signs along 86th Ave to indicate you are on the right track.

DESCRIPTION:As the Environmental Programs Coordinator at the City of Satellite Beach\, Nick Sanzone will be providing an overview of the City’s Sustainability Action Plan. The plan was started in 2016 as a way for the City to track its sustainability-based programs and to guide the actions and implementation of future endeavors. He will discuss how the City went about creating a Sustainability Action plan and what has been done since the plan took effect. In addition to discussing the accomplishments of the plan\, Nick will talk about what the future goals and how community members get involved.

SUMMARY:ATAC - Advanced Teen Anglers Camp
DESCRIPTION:This summer\, AFC will be introducing our first full week summer camp designed around improving the skills of anglers who want to learn more. This camp is for teens that are currently knowledgeable with fishing and want to excel into a more advanced level. ATAC will be conducted by AFC Executive Director\, Mike Conneen. Trained in first aid/CPR and background screened\, Mike will lead the camp with additional volunteers and professionals from the fishing community. ATAC will feature activities with F.I.T.\, Brevard Zoo\, Harry Goode’s Outdoor Shop and more. Teens will learn fly fishing\, habitat restoration\, advanced knots\, fish migration and behaviors. There will be competition and plenty of learning to fill the week. We will be exploring the waterways around Front Street Park in Downtown Melbourne including a clean-up day to give back to the environment. All campers will receive a goodie bag to take home.  (see website for more details).
