Sorry for the short lead-time.
We will take a slow, easy hike starting at the small parcel of Turkey Creek Sanctuary that is EAST of the creek. Do NOT drive to the main Turkey Creek Sanctuary entrance. The parking area is on grass off of Briar Creek Blvd. opposite the Glennbrooke Assisted Living Facility. Please arrive at 8:45 for a prompt 9:00 AM start. I drive a small, old, blue-gray, Toyota Tacoma pick-up.
We will hike south and continue into the Cameron Preserve and the Malabar Scrub Sanctuary (West). We will walk a loop and return to our cars.
• What to bring
Please wear sturdy walking shoes or boots that can get dirty. There may be mud in spots. Also bring a bottle of water. No restrooms are available. However, the pace will be leisurely and we can stop to answer Nature’s Call. Small binoculars might be a good idea but I am not a birder, so I cannot help with identification.
• Important to know
Off-road bicyclists will be present and we must yield right-of-way when they approach. Hikers should shout “Bike-up!” if one approaches the lead hikers and “Bike-back!” if one approaches from the rear.
