Partners

The Coalition is comprised of non-profit, non-partisan organizations.  These Partners, while often working on different Lagoon issues, come together for one common goal - to help restore the Indian River Lagoon.

marine-resources-councilFor over 30 years, the Marine Resources Council has been the Lagoon’s voice: Advocating for Lagoon protection; restoring shorelines; conserving buffer lands; collecting and sharing scientific data; and educating future generations.  We coordinate the award winning LagoonWatch citizen science program; produce the Annual Lagoon Health Report Card; operate a mangrove nursery; and much more!

Brevard Zoo‘s Restore Our Shores is a community-based program that umbrellas multiple projects focused on Lagoon restoration and education that, since 2009, has helped gather over 6,000 volunteers into an active cohort of Lagoon restoration advocates. Through oyster projects and native planting initiatives, ROS is focused on restoring the IRL.

Citizens Climate Lobby  is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, grassroots advocacy organization empowering people to experience breakthroughs exercising their personal and political power. Our SpaceCoast Chapter is just one of hundreds of chapters across the world working to create the political will for a livable world.

Coastal Conservation Association (CCA) Florida is a non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation of Florida’s marine resources. Here in Florida, we push for fisheries management that keep fish stocks sustainable and abundant, we educate and engage the public to support habitat and environmental restoration, and we work with our members and state residents to ensure good stewardship of our coastal resources.   Visit the SPACE COAST chapter.

STPS is a registered 501(c) 3 not-for-profit organization. STPS works tirelessly to educate the public about how to protect the sea turtle population and help sick and injured sea turtles that arrive on area beaches throughout the year, particularly during nesting season, which usually runs from May through October.

The Surfrider Foundation is a non-profit environmental organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world’s oceans, waves and beaches for all people, through conservation, activism, research and education.  The Sebastian Inlet Chapter works to protect the beaches and surf breaks from the Canaveral Inlet to the Sebastian Inlet and Indian River County.

By working through communities and teaching families, teenagers, veterans, and children angling basics, we encourage the use and respect of our water resources. The Anglers for Conservation works with a network of like-minded civic organizations and clubs who volunteer to assist with our mission of teaching about sustainable angling and habitat preservation.

The Space Coast Science Education Alliance (SCSEA) is an affiliation of organizations and individuals devoted to education, science, and the environment. SCSEA promotes STEM literacy through joint activities and support of member projects. Members include teachers, educators, and community members from public and private sector organizations across Brevard county. Located in Palm Shores, Florida, Florida Wildlife Hospital is available 365 days a year to admit wildlife patients. We care for more than 5,000 patients per year.  There is never charge for animal care but we receive no state or federal funding.

Hubbs-SeaWorld Research Institute (HSWRI) is a non-profit scientific research organization committed to conserving and renewing marine life to ensure a healthier planet. Our Marine Mammal Stranding Team provides 24/7 animal response and coordination for nearly 124 miles of coast and 1,200 square miles of estuarine waters including the Indian River Lagoon. This important research focuses on predicting and preventing impacts from human disturbance, habitat loss and pollution, and climate change.
