MRC Earth Day Celebration!

April 21, 2018 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

Join the MRC for a day of Lagoon learning and giving in celebration of Earth Day! The day will be filled with fun educational talks on current Lagoon restoration efforts and projects, as well as hands on activities that allow you to give back to the Lagoon. All topped off with a tasty lunch catered by Coastal Crab Co. and live Caribbean music throughout!

This event is free and open to anyone!

The days lineup consists of:

9a.m-10:45a.m: Shoreline Cleanup
It can’t be Earth Day without a good old trash cleanup, right??

10a.m: Rain Barrel Workshop
Head over to the Rain Barrel Station to learn how to create your very own Rain Barrel that can help reduce up to 50,000 gallons of stormwater from entering the Lagoon! This workshop is free to audit, but there is a $55 dollar fee to construct and take home a barrel.

11a.m: Presentation – Dr. John Windsor
Dr. Windsor will be kicking off their expert lineup with a presentation on the Citizen Oversight Committee for the Save our Lagoon Project Plan.

11:45a.m: Presentation – Bill Cox
Bill will be filling us in on local U.S Coast Guard initiatives and how they impact research of Right Whale populations.

12:15p.m: Lunch break… cue the shrimps! Serving shrimp, sausage, crab rice, corn, potatoes, and beverages (1/2 serving $9 / full serving $14).

12:45p.m: Presentation – Dr. Leesa Souto
Dr. Souto will be updating us on the State of the Indian River Lagoon Report Card… due out early this summer.

1:30pm: Presentation – MRC Staff
MRC staff will give you updates on current project and how you can get involved to make a positive impact on the Lagoon.

This event is free for all to join, so come on down and make this Earth Day a great one! Take part is hands on event for the whole family, and learn from the experts what you can do to further your positive impact.
