For Kids/Kidz
Check our CALENDAR regularly. Many of our partners have periodic and special events in which you can participate--from Shoreline Clean Ups to Oyster Bed Farming to Community Forums--our LAGOON STRAIGHT TALKS, for example.
The following is about a new group here, just for KIDS, actually for KIDZ. We are proud to announce a new chapter of RIVER KIDZ, the Brevard County RIVER KIDZ! It gives our children a chance to learn more about the Lagoon, what can harm it, how to protect it, and how to speak to others about the importance of the Lagoon for all of us.
This undertaking is brand new in Brevard, but active in Martin County.
Brevard County River Kidz had their first event at St. Marks Episcopal in Cocoa, joining other River Kidz helping to Save the Manatees.
The Kidz wrote letters to Governor DeSantis to urge our state to keep fighting for the manatees and Tiare Friedrich, a biologist from Save the Manatee spoke to the group.
We are so excited and proud to have them aboard the River Kidz train. We look forward to all the great things they will do to use their voice to help make a change.
River Kidz Learn to Save the Manatees
River Kidz gathered together at St Mark's Episcopal Academy in Cocoa to learn what they could do to help manatees, how they could get involved and how they can have a voice in the future health of our waterways.
Thank you to Wayne Mills (Brevard/IRL Coalition, ORCA, Clean Water Coalition), Leslie Maloney (Brevard/IRL Coalition), Sherry Bergeron (STEAM teacher St. Marks), Lori Baccus (Principal, St. Marks), and Fred Mays (Brevard/IRL Coalition).
