Nanobubbles Pilot Project Launches in Titusville

The City of Titusville is partnering with Moleaer Inc. on a small-scale demonstration of the company’s patented nanobubble water-treatment technology at the Titusville Municipal Marina.

On March 3, 2026, at the Titusville Marina, the City of Titusville officially launched its Nanobubbles Pilot Project — a collaborative initiative focused on improving water quality in the Indian River Lagoon.

Speakers at the event included:
Mayor Connors
Lynda Weatherman, President & CEO, Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast
Laurilee Thompson, Owner of Dixie Crossroads Seafood Restaurant, Vice Chair of the Titusville Environmental Commission, and project donor
Chris Stephan, Moleaer, Inc.
Dr. Austin Fox, Florida Institute of Technology

This pilot project includes ongoing scientific monitoring to evaluate its effectiveness and help guide future water quality decisions. Moleaer nanobubble technology creates and enhances aerobic (oxygen-rich) conditions in lakes, especially at depth, supporting natural lake processes and improving resilience to common challenges like algal blooms, without the use of harsh chemicals.By restoring oxygen where it is most limited, nanobubbles help improve water clarity, reduce the frequency, severity and duration of algal blooms, break down accumulated muck, minimize foul odors and support healthier aquatic ecosystems overall.

Efficient Oxygen Delivery & Distribution: Nanobubbles deliver oxygen throughout the water column, including the deeper zones where oxygen depletion often occurs and traditional approaches are less effective.
Nutrient Mitigation & Algae Reduction: Improved oxygen conditions at depth reduces sediment nutrient release associated with low oxygen (anoxia), limiting the nutrients available to fuel excessive algal growth.
Enhanced Microbial Activity & Muck Digestion: Enhanced oxygen conditions at the lake bottom stimulate and accelerate natural microbial processes which are key to breaking down organic muck more efficiently.

The City of Titusville previously interviewed Laurilee Thompson, environmental advocate and donor for the project, on how the process works and what results she hopes to see.

FIT NanobubblesDr. Ausin Fox of Florida Tech was also recently interviewed and you can watch his team in action as they prepare for the project.
