With our mission to help wildlife and people thrive in mind, we are endorsing renewing the Save Our Indian River Lagoon (SOIRL) Half-Cent Sales Tax. Your support for this renewal ensures that the work of our own Restore Our Shores team and our partners continue at the same level – which has started the recovery of the Indian River Lagoon.
Early voting is being held from Oct. 19-31, with Election Day on Nov. 3.
Almost 10 years ago, after being plagued by algae blooms, fish kills, seagrass die offs, and more ecological disasters, our County voted for SOIRL in an effort to begin reversing the decades of pollution affecting the Indian River Lagoon. This tax has supported the steady progress we’ve seen bringing our lagoon back to health through science-based projects that reduce pollution, improve water quality, restore natural ecosystems, and more. The lagoon supports everything that makes Brevard County a special place to live, from being home to more than 4,000 species of plants and animals to providing the incredible water fun we all enjoy.
It takes all of us to ensure a healthy environment for generations to come!
