Save Our Indian River Lagoon’ Program Combating Polluted Groundwater Before it Enters the Lagoon

The Save Our Indian River Lagoon Program (SOIRL), funded by the voter-approved half-cent sales tax initiative, has initiated projects at combating the major sources of water pollution.  Muck, storm water, overuse of fertilizers, failing septic systems all contribute to the demise of the Indian River Lagoon.  The SOIRL program is also identifying septic systems that are a possible contributor.  “We’ve targeted the most polluting properties throughout the Lagoon watershed to connect to the sewer or upgrade to advanced treatment septic systems,” said Matt Badolato, the newest Environmental Specialist with Brevard County’s SOIRL Program.”  Click here to read the complete article.
